Delhi – The heart of India with its famous street food and infrastructure is also known for being the city with one of the highest crime rate in India. According to Times of India report, Delhi has topped in Crime Rate among 19 big Cities of India. Cyber Crime has also been a big part of crimes in Delhi. So, Delhi needs to know about prevailing Cyber Crime and Cyber Laws.
Day by Day, new cases of Cyber Crime has been challenging the Cyber Police and they are trying the ways to tackle with these criminals. In January 2019, a girl threatened a boy on a dating app saying that she will blast a nuclear bomb in Rashtrapati Bhavan, the boy immediately called the Police and Police started investigating the matter. So, you think you are safe anywhere on internet? No, you are not! It’s very crucial to know about Cyber Laws for everyone to have a clear idea about what to do in such situations and be safe. Imagine what could happen with the boy if police investigated and after that the boy was arrested for knowing that there was such conspiracy going on, he knew about it and still didn’t contacted police. Every citizen has the Fundamental Duty to safeguard public property and to abjure violence.
Recently, Cyber Crime Unit of Delhi Police received a complaint from Ministry of Labor and Employment that they got an email from Lalit Dagar (Accused) claiming that he has been appointed as new Pay and Accounts Officer, he requested to approve his user Id but when the Ministry investigated about his name, there was no person with such name. A complaint was immediately filed by Ministry in Cyber Crime Unit of Dlehi Police under RTI Act and the accused was arrested after investigation using technical assistance from labs of Cyber Prevention Awareness and Detection (cyPAD), the mobile phone and Sim card he was using to make fake mails and letter from Government was also recovered from the accused. Later, after interrogation it was revealed that the accused person’s real name was Noor Mohammad.
Due this high crime rate, Delhi has its own Cyber Police, Cyber Cell and Online Cyber Crime portal to report the crimes. Delhi Cyber Crime Police is doing a great job in arresting and punishing these criminals and all we have to do is be safe and be aware about the Cyber Crime and Cyber Laws prevailing in India.
