3. The accused made fake transactions for 50000/- worth of clothes which have been confiscated, along with mobile phones and SIM Cards.
The convicts initially used fraud Paytm accounts to purchase the clothes. But the shop owner, being quick-witted, soon noticed that he hadn’t recieved any transaction message.
Next, the accused adopted another strategy. They saved their number as ‘Paytm’ on the shop owner’s phone (Another number by the same name had already been saved). They copied the message sent by the other number onto their own, and forwarded it to the shop owner. However, the latter was quick to realize their motives.
In the recent measures taken by DGP Purushottam Sharma, and ADGP Rajesh Gupta, Officer Jitendra Singh, Superintendent, Cyber Cell Indore, revealed that on 11 March 2019, they recieved a complaint from Sandeep, 40, that 2 youths had reportedly tried to make a purchase of Rs. 50000 from his shop, and had tried to pay using a fraudulent ID Number, similar to another that the shop owner was familiar with.
After investigation, the crime was taken into Section 66C, 66D IT Act, and 420,468,471,120 B of the IPC. It is currently under the jurisdiction of Supervisor Rasheed Ahmed.During investigation, the accused, Prateek, 21, and Tanay Singh Chauhan
So, being alert is the best way for preventing cyber crime. Cyber crime can take place within seconds and due to the absence of a paper trail in some conditions unlike the financial transactions that involve the exchange of solid currency for goods, cyber crime through online transactions can be very dangerous.
While cyber crime approached within the seconds we have to be aware of the things and transactions we are making through online portals.
