JIO, FACEBOOK OFFERING FREE DATA FOR 6 MONTHS CAN BE NEW COVID-19 SCAM

A message claiming Facebook and reliance Jio are offering free 25 GB data for 6 months is fake and the whole thing could be a malware attack.
This is the following message that most of them have received-
“GOOD NEWS! Jio and Facebook are giving 25GB Data Daily for 6 months to all Jio users due to lockdown of COVID-19.” If you have received a text message with this claim, it means you one of the many targets of a new cybercrime.
Reliance and Jio has not announced any such offer. These fraudsters are using such names just to make their fake news sound authentic. To make the claim believable, they threw in the COVID19 lockdown in the mix as well.

So, this will be the message that you will get when you click on the link, that is given message, then you will be taken to the page that will look somewhat similar to the Jio website and after that you have to give your mobile number then, as the mobile has been typed then you will be further taken to the advertisement page, where you will be forced to click on that advertisement page. Then your activity will be exposed of your phone or computer to the malware.
Jio has warned many times to its users to clicking on such unknown links and putting personal information in them and said more about to not believe until it comes from any of the credible source or unless the companies make any official announcement about it.
Upon questioning, a Jio spokesperson said: “We periodically caution customers through SMS and other mass means of communication in order to address the menace of false claims by misleading websites. The reference information is false and misleading. We request our customers, through you, not to fall for such false propaganda.”
“This is not the first time we saw the malicious android application used in a phishing scam. This malicious app can be used for malware/ransomware injection in the devices for further hacking and taking control of devices,” So, with this it becomes important to be aware about these frauds and before clicking any link or downloading any app a person think twice.
