The nation state cyber-threat is becoming very real. Total cost of cyber-attacks on India in 2018 stands at $10.4 million including direct cost. The direct cost only accounts for about $0.9 million, indirect loss such as job losses and loss of reputation comes to about $3.1 million.
India’s top private banks, a top telecom company, a top media company and a stock exchange have all been victims of major cyberattacks or cyberthefts. One of the main reason for easily increasing cyberattacks in India is because of the use of unlicensed software.
• Central server was hacked in bank of Maharashtra
• Axis bank had an unauthorized login by unnamed offshore hacker
• 17 million user records from zomato database were hacked
• Some of the ATMs and POS machines of YES bank were attacked by malware
• Unreleased Games of thrones episodes where leaked
• Hackers stole union banks access codes
• Reliance jio experienced unauthorized access to part of its database
• Yahoo acknowledged three billion email accounts were breached in 2013 attack
• Regarding Aadhaar leaks,it was told, some personal data can be accessed through different users but the biometric database and other key data remains safe.
