Chandigarh is evidently a small city, but that does not mean that it is devoid of places to hang out. The City Beautiful is bustling with youngsters. Most of them are students at Punjab University or it’s associated colleges. And the other majority are members of some other institutes located in the vicinity. And so, Chandigarh, tiny compared to large metropolitans, has recently seen a huge surge in the number of haunts flocked by these people, in pursuit of a good time.
Elante Mall
On the list of hangout spaces, the first name is inarguably Elante Mall. Established back in 2012, the mall is still a favourite amongst people of all ages, but more so amongst students. And it’s hardly a secret why. The 3 storeyed building boasts of a number of showrooms, a PVR, all major food outlets, and the only Starbucks in the city.
Sukhna Lake
Another popular spot is the famous Sukhna Lake, located in Sector 1. The lake offers water sports, good food, and a beautiful jogging track. So, it’s no surprise that the place is full of young people exercising early morning.
Sector 17
Though a number of malls have opened up in the city, Sector 17 still doesn’t lose it’s sheen. Students often go there, partly because it’s so easily accessible. The open air ambience adds to the overall vibe.
Sector 26
Youngsters often love visiting bars and clubs, and just letting loose. And most of the city’s clubs and high end restaurants are located in Sector 26. So, at any given day (or rather, night), it’s not hard to find students partying their hearts out, enjoying delicious food, and just having a good time.
Chattbir Zoo
Everyone loves seeing animals having good time in great weather. And that’s the reason that this zoo, derived from a complete forest, is such a pleasure to visit. People love coming here, especially during winters or rains, when the animals take full advantage of the weather.
Stu-C
One place which is a forever favorite is Panjab University’s very own Stu-C. It’s always buzz in with students, both on campus and off it. The Centre offers good food super cheap, so it’s no surprise why it’s always packed.
Apart from these places, there are a number of other malls and tourist sites such as Rock Garden, which are always a bit amongst all.
